My background
I am a transformational executive leader with a passion for psychology, digital innovation, business transformation and big picture thinking. Inherently entrepreneurial, I am a strong team player with a natural intrigue and proven commercial acumen.
My career has given me experience in transforming organisations, teams and brands, both client and agency side. In each of my roles I held the dual role of functional business owner with the responsibility of transforming the function whilst leading the change. As a result I truly know what it is to ‘fly the plane whilst building it’, with the skills to visualise, set direction and create strategies that drive tangible business results.
I am known for by those who have worked with me for effective coaching and operational excellence, with demonstrable success building, managing and providing direction for executive teams whilst specialising in transformation, business planning and operations, marketing, content, media & technology.
Performing roles in both technical and business functions, most recently at Group M (WPP), Microsoft and Westcom Comstor, has equipped me with the language and practical understanding to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists. As a leader I work horizontally across the business to bring about shared understanding that results in operational excellence, unlocking innovation and business growth through true ‘networked thinking’.
Outside of my corporate work I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP with my own private practice. For the last year I have been a volunteer counsellor with Trusthouse Children & Young People Services.
I am also engaged in training the next generation of counsellors working with etc CPTA in teaching CPCAB Level 2 counselling skills as a Group Tutor.
After two years of building and leading GroupM UKs Transformation; leading the executive team through the design of the new operating model; building and scaling the Transformation Team and rolling out the associated program of work, I decided to start my own business Human but better™.
Why Human but better™?
Having worked in transformation for the past 20 years I have seen and personally felt the impact of what does and doesn’t work. During that time, I have seen and continue to see a number of transformation programs fail time and time again and seen great companies, brands and their employees suffer as a result.
With the pace of technological innovation enabled through AI, the original concept of ‘business transformation’ has become outdated and has been replaced with an emerging need for continuous business evolution and human adaptability.
As transformation experts we need to commit helping Individuals and organisations, to move from moment in time transformation to longer term evolution by taking a human-led approach that promotes authentic, long-lasting and sustainable change.
Human but better™ has been built to rise to the challenge by combining my skills, passions and interests through a shared set of services that build on people’s strengths, helping them build new skills and teaching them to positively leverage the resources and communities around them.
At an individual personal level this is a holistic approach to therapy, complementing counselling with other therapeutic approaches, such as Yoga Therapy and massage, that consider the mind and body, building new 'muscle' and promoting long-lasting growth and positive change. Always focussed on those individuals needs and introducing community and thought leadership in accessible spaces.
From a career perspective it’s unlocking full, authentic human potential in everyone. With access to coaching services, that are often reserved for the chosen few at work, that arm everyone from all walks of life with the skills and tools to realise their potential in their working life.
At an organisational level this is treating a business as you would a counselling client, working within a framework and using a variety of transformation tools and techniques to design a program that realises its unique culture, history and experiences and works to recognise its strengths, introducing new behaviours that promote sustainable growth. Introducing and building new capability into its employees versus introducing an influx of expensive consultancies.
